Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How Can I identify asbestos?
A: If your property was built before or around 1980, it is possible that asbestos-based materials were used in the construction. The most common areas that contain asbestos are floor tiles, wall lining and roof tiles. You should contact a licensed asbestos removalist and book an inspection if you suspect it may be in your property.
Q: Can I Remove asbestos Myself?
A: No, it is not recommended to disturb, handle, or try to remove asbestos on your own. Asbestos is dangerous and does pose as a health hazard.
Q: What Is asbestos testing?
A: Asbestos testing is the process of taking a sample from your property and having it tested at a lab. Samples are sent to a registered NATA Lab for analysis. The results are 100% accurate and will be delivered to you within 24 hours.
Q: Do Asbestos Removalists Need a License?
A: Yes. The South Australian Government requires anyone handling and removing asbestos to be fully licensed. Once licensed they are required to notify SafeWork SA at-least 5 days prior to removal.
Q: Are You Licensed To Handle Asbestos?
A: Absolutely. Every contractor is fully qualified and licensed to handle asbestos by the South Australian Government.
Q: What Procedures Do You Use When Removing Asbestos?
A: After receiving the contract, we visit the property and start an enclosure of the asbestos-affected area. The enclosure helps to prevent the contamination of the unaffected areas. Our team then implements an air control system that prevents the release of any airborne particles in the work area. After that, we start the removal of the asbestos and dispose of by transporting it to an approved disposal area.
Q: What Does Asbestos Removal Cost?
A: The overall cost of asbestos removal will range based on the age and condition of the property, the accessibility, and the size of the building. The minimum price is between $200- 400$ per hour and as high as $3000. Some companies may charge per square metre, starting at $30.
